A battery DC to DC charger is a device that connects between the primary and secondary battery. When the primary battery is fully charged, the DC to DC charger will recognize the voltage change and transfer the charging current to the secondary battery. This needs to be restated. When you start your vehicle, a significant amount of battery charge is drained from the vehicle battery. The vehicle alternator replaces the charge in the vehicle battery after a few minutes of driving. When the vehicle battery is fully recharged the DC to DC charger opens a circuit, redirecting the alternator energy to the secondary battery.
