After a week, Booth made a new plan to kill Lincoln himself.  His crew would kill Vice President Johnson, Secretary of State Seward, and General Ulysses Grant, all at 10:15 the same evening.  The moment he pulled the trigger of his single-shot derringer, he was on the run.  He was convinced he would be the hero of the South.
